  • 2010-03-28: Everaldo Kids 0.6 theme for Claws Mail.
    Some more icons were added for marked folders and some message list icons. Get it at the Claws Mail themes download page or from allroy.de. As freshmeat closed its themes section, old themes are only available at allroy.de.
  • 2008-06-14: Added some information about dailystrips and Userfriendly.org.
    I gathered some information about dailystrips and userfriendly and how to use them when Arcor is blocked by UF's ISP.
  • 2007-04-24: Fixed a typo, updated some minor information.

  • 2006-12-18: Update of themes page.
    I updated my themes page. All my Window Maker themes are listed and the tooltip shows a small screenshot of the selected theme.
  • 2006-12-16: Release of WMaker-simple 0.9.3.
    After some time an update for my Window Maker theme "WMaker simple" is available. Removed version info from the wallpaper files. Changed the fonts once again, as the old ones aren't installed on my recent OS. Added the style file that was missing in the last version... Get it from my freshmeat page or from allroy.de.
  • 2006-08-20: Wrote a small piece about generating pdf and updated about page.
    I updated my about page. After some research about pdf files and how to generate, update and optimize them, I wrote a very small piece about that. Will be enlarged soon.
  • 2006-04-03: Link to SiteBar.org added.
    I updated my links page and added a link to SiteBar. While I was at it, I got rid of some old news and changed the format for the dates in this rss file.

  • 2005-10-28: Amazon broke html compliance.
    Some time ago my provider secretly changed the server's ability to embed files from other web sites. Apart from tinkering with several cms I thought that I could make some money by referring visitors' to Amazon. Nobody has bought anything so far and now I get lots of errors when trying to validate my pages. This sucks.
  • 2005-10-02: Another cleanup of the links page.
    After some time the links file has been updated. Less "Page not found" errors. Most links containing "Mandrake" have been adapted to "Mandriva", "Ximian" and "Novell" sites have been cleaned.

    Some time ago I updated Mandrake 10.1 Official on my Sony Vaio PCG-NV309 to Mandriva LE 2005. The vaio page has been updated to reflect the changes.
  • 2005-03-20: Update for peace-love-linux available.
    After almost three years an update for my Window Maker theme "peace-love-linux" is available. Basically it features a new pixmap for the ALT-tab switchpanel. If it doesn't show, copy it to the "pixmaps" directory under the "GNUstep" hierarchy and restart Window Maker. Works for me. Get it from my freshmeat page or from allroy.de.
  • 2005-03-05: New job, random updates only.
    I have a new job. That's good news, the bad part is that I had to move and have no Internet access in my new appartment. So there are only few updates from work or when I'm home in Berlin.
  • 2005-02-02: New layout online.
    Been busy with other things, so it took a while to get the new layout online. Downloads and Screenshots still have to be adapted to the new look of the site.

gdeskcal

gDeskCal is a calendar for your desktop. It features transparency with alpha-blending. Its appearance can be changed completely by using skins. It can also read and display your Evolution appointments, if you have any... My skin can be downloaded from there as well.

Window Maker

So you just installed Window Maker and think it's really useful, bloatless, etc. But you wonder how to change its appearance. So here we go. Get a theme somewhere, and unpack its contents to /usr/share/WindowMaker/Themes (at least on Mandrake 10.2rc2 that is the path) for system use, or inside your home directory to ~/GNUstep/Library/WindowMaker/Themes.

You could use the menu entry in your root menu to change WM's appearance, but perhaps you screwed it up and still want to change the theme. Open up a terminal and call setstyle /path/to/Theme/style. This way you can also test a theme without installing it. Iy you have a theme that's really old (its directory in not called name.themed) this won't work, because Window Maker can't find the associated pixmaps, unless you copied them to the Pixmaps directory.

Sylpheed-Claws

tom_2.x for sylpheed-claws

My second theme for Sylpheed-Claws can be downloaded from www.allroy.de/Downloads/tom_2.1.2.tar.bz2. This one features new icons for 'trash_btn.xpm' and 'sylpheed_icon.xpm'. Older versions are still available and the changelog is here.

  • tom 2.1.1: February 3, 2004. Added icons for mime types. New icon for vcard.xpm, gpg_signed.xpm is smaller.
  • tom 2.1: October 25, 2003. New icons added. Most are based on the muevo-mail icon.
  • tom 2: Original release.

If you want to install and use themes for Sylpheed-Claws, these are the instructions from the README file. They are valid for Sylpheed-Claws < 0.9.8

Replace `/usr/local` with the prefix where you installed sylpheed-claws/claws-mail, if necessary you will need to create the `themes` directory if it does not already exist.

  1. After installation, run sylpheed
  2. Go to `Configuration / Common Preferences`
  3. Move to the `Interface` tab
  4. Select "tom_2" from the list in the `Pixmap Theme` section
  5. Press the `Apply` button
d. using and installing with Sylpheed-Claws/Claws-Mail >= 0.9.9
  1. Run sylpheed-claws
  2. Go to `Configuration / Other Preferences`
  3. Choose `Display / Themes`
  4. Select 'theme_name' from the drop-down list in the `selector` section
  5. Press the `use this` button `actions` section
  6. To install a theme untar the archive
  7. Go to `Configuration / Other Preferences`
  8. Choose `Display / Themes`
  9. Click the 'Install new' button and locate the theme directory.

All pixmaps included in this theme were done by Jakub Steiner aka Jimmac. I just downloaded some icons from his homepage, decided which icon to use and converted them to xpm. Some icons consist of two ore more pngs that are pasted together. This is my second attempt to do a theme for sylpheed-claws, hence the name.

Everaldo Kids for sylpheed-claws/Claws-Mail

The icons for this theme were taken from Everaldo's web site, they belong to a set called "Kids". For usage instructions see above. You can get the theme here or here.

I released a new version of "Everaldo Kids" today. It features new icons for 'trash_btn.xpm' and 'sylpheed_icon.xpm'. As always you can get it from allroy.de or freshmeat.
